The Bioart society, established in May 2008 in KilpisjƤrvi and based in Helsinki, is an organization developing, producing and facilitating activities around art and natural sciences. It foster public discussions about biosciences, biotechnologies and bioethics and is the Finnish contact node in national and international networks of bioart and art&science. The Bioartsociety respects and protects life, values sustainable development, transparency in its actions, legality, critical thinking, expertise and artistic and scientific integrity. It currently has 84 member representing different art and research fields and other expertise including bioart, art&science, theatre, performance art, fine arts, media and digital art, sculpture, environmental art, design, zoology, botany ecology, environmental science, animal physiology, genetics, philosophy, cultural production, art history, art education and more.
