Lluis Gómez i Bigorda is a Research Associate at the Computer Vision Center at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He received a M.Sc. degree in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and a M.Sc. and B.S. in Computer Science from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona under the supervision of Professor Dimothenis Karatzas. He is a member of the Document Analysis and Pattern Recognition Group, where he works with other colleagues in developing algorithms to make computers read and understand text in unconstrained scenarios. His research interests are on Perceptual Organization, Scene Text Understanding, Computer Vision, Document Analysis, Machine Learning, and Pattern Recognition. As a member of the Computer Vision and Document Analysis communities he has had the chance to collaborate with a variety of research groups. He has done a research stay with Professors Masakazu Iwamura and Koichi Kise at the Osaka Prefecture University in Japan. He has also collaborated with other prominent research groups in the organization of the ICDAR2013 Robust Reading Competition.
