Luce Choules is a UK-based artist and independent researcher, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and founder/coordinator of the itinerant artist network TSOEG.org. Luce investigates the critical dialogue between art and geography through fieldwork and artistic practice in the landscape, to develop new research models in peripatetic practice, itinerant working, outposts and data-sets. Through her work, she explores the shifts in our physical and emotional bodies and researches our relationship to natural landscape and the built environment. Using a trans-media approach, she investigates earth systems, in particular the movement and behaviour of animate and inanimate objects, monitoring erratic changes in landscape. Through her practice, she works in still and moving image and the intermedia between performance and installation and with a non-anthropocentric view, she contributes to a wider discussion on instability and environmental change. As an independent scholar, Luce presents academic and performance papers on the subject/object of fieldwork in artistic practice, in addition to a series of public live events and artist talks on a new environmental (re)turn.

Itinerant Actions is a research project investigating both the critical dialogue between art and geography through fieldwork and the geographies of artistic practice in the landscape, to develop new research models in peripatetic practice, itinerant working, outposts and databases. Fieldwork in artistic practice is an interesting new research strand, as preliminary thinking and making often goes undocumented or is edited-out from final work.
